Planting a Better Tomorrow for 15 Years in Illinois

This year, Trees Forever is marking 15 years of accomplishments with its Illinois Buffer Partnership, in which the nonprofit assists farmers, landowners and communities with expertise and cost-sharing to support conservation efforts.

Since 2001, Trees Forever and our partners have protected 62 miles of streams in Illinois, with more than 220 projects on Illinois farms and public lands through the Illinois Buffer Partnership program and the newer Pollinator Habitat Conservation program.

Together, we planted more than 926,000 trees and shrubs, with nearly 4,500 acres of buffers — trees and shrubs planted near streams, lakes and ponds that filter runoff to improve water quality and pollinator habitat.

Trees Forever continues our focus on all of the benefits trees provide, as we celebrate this milestone year with 15+ special events in Illinois.

Trees Forever Field Coordinator Debbie Fluegel leads a nature walk at Sugar Grove Nature Center in Funk's Grove, Illinois.  The walk was part of the 15+ special events celebrating the 15th anniversary of Trees Forever's work in Illinois.
