REAP City Parks and Open Space

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
Parkland expansion and multi-purpose outdoor-related recreation developments are typical projects. Pools, ball fields, and tennis courts are not eligible. Selection criteria includes, but is not limited to: quality of site/project (including the incorporation of energy savings/sustainable building principles, waste minimizations, material re-use,
plans for restoration/expansion of Iowa’s natural resources, or plans that benefit the natural ecology of the proposed area), environmental benefits, public benefit, local support, and a communications plan to inform users about the importance of the proposed project and plans to promote the project.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
Available to cities in three population categories: less than 2,000; from 2,000 to 25,000; and greater than 25,000.

GRANT AMOUNT
Annual grant amount ceilings are in effect based on population to help assure that funds are distributed for projects located throughout the state.

 5,001 - 10,000  $100,000
 10,001 - 25,000  $125,000
 25,001 - 50,000  $150,000
 50,001 - 75,000  $200,000
 over 75,000  $300,000
