REAP DNR Open Space Acquisition & Development

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
Land acquisitions with private organizations on a cost-share. The DNR will own and manage the property that is jointly purchased. Selection criteria includes, but is not limited to: relative rarity of the natural resources found on the project site, quality of the project site, factors/immediate threats to the project area that constitute urgency for
acquisition and development, rare or unique species communities, public benefits, and a communications plan to inform users about the importance of the proposed project and plans to promote the project.
FUNDING CRITERIA
REAP provides 75% of acquisition costs; 25% provided by private contributions.
SPECIAL PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
- The DNR will own and manage the property that is jointly purchased.
- The property remains on the tax roles and its acquisition by the state does not place financial burden on local governments.
