Trees Please!

PURPOSE OF PROGRAM
Promote energy efficiency by providing windbreaks and shade while beautifying parks, roadways, and other common areas within communities both large and small.
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
To qualify, your community must receive utility service from MidAmerican Energy.
FUNDING CRITERIA
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of project merit, benefit to the community, and ability to obtain matching funds.
Program requirements:
- Grant money must be used for the purchase of trees only.
- The trees need to be planted in common areas such as parks, trails and right-of-ways. This program is not a residential customer tree-planting program.
- This program is a matching grant program. You must have matching funding from other sources that equals MidAmerican Energy’s grant amount
GRANT AMOUNT
The amount of each community’s grant will be determined after all applications are received. The standard Trees Please! grant is $1,000 per community. Requests for additional tree-planting funding will be considered in cases of natural disasters or major beautification projects. If this applies to your community, please provide a summary of
your tree-planting plans and the amount requested.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications are due the third Friday in October.
