20 Stories Contest
In an effort to gather and record the many stories people have about the trees in their lives, we are excited to introduce the first-ever Trees Forever essay contest. We invite you to submit your story today! We are especially interested in stories about the past 20 years of our history.
Trees Forever is looking for essays that:
- Tell us about a special tree in your life.
- Show how trees have positively impacted your life or that of others.
- Discuss how trees and green spaces have impacted or transformed your community.
- Share the environmental, economic and/or cultural benefits of trees.
- Tell about a particular project or event that involved trees or tree planting.
A panel of judges will select 20 stories that they feel best represent the “essence” and variety of the interaction between trees, people and place. To preserve these stories for future generations to read and enjoy, the selected top 20 stories will be published in a book commemorating this special project.
Select authors will be invited to share readings from their essays at Trees Forever events throughout the year. The commemorative 20 Stories book and speaking engagements are made possible through a generous grant from Humanities Iowa.
The extended deadline for story submissions is July 15, 2009. Please download and complete the Stories Contest Entry Form below and send it with your submission.
