Community Assistance
Program Name: Community Assistance
Program Summary: Community Assistance is a program made possible through a long-standing partnership between Trees Forever and the Living Roadway Trust Fund (LRTF) of the Iowa DOT. Trees Forever field staff are available to meet with community volunteers to provide technical assistance and help develop public projects that emphasize the use of native plants, such as entryway projects, trails, and butterfly gardens.
Who is eligible to participate? Any Iowa community volunteer that would like assistance in helping plan a native landscaping project on public land can contact the Trees Forever office to get connected to a field coordinator. Many participating volunteers have previously participated in our community forestry programs and are interested in expanding the kind of project they work with in their community.
What are the goals of this program? The goals of the program are to develop well planned, volunteer-driven sustainable community landscaping projects and to provide technical assistance to community volunteers in their communities.
What assistance or services are provided through this program? Trees Forever field coordinators provide technical assistance (for example selecting plants, planting, maintenance of a project), volunteer coordination, and can help connect volunteers to local resources and funding opportunities.
What is the application deadline? There is no application deadline. Community volunteers can contact the Trees Forever office at 1-800-369-1269 any time to get in touch with a field coordinator in your area.
