Green Farmstead Partner

The Green Farmstead Partner program concept was developed by the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers as an extension of its efforts to provide farm families resources and support to raise livestock responsibly and successfully.

Studies show the environment is important to farmers. After all, they live on the land they farm. The Green Farmstead Partner program, a partnership between the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers, Trees Forever and the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association, provides information and cost-effective assistance to farmers wanting to plant trees and shrubs around new and existing cattle feedlots, hog barns and poultry buildings. This program promotes the planning and installation of vegetative environmental buffers (VEBs) to help improve water and soil quality, reduce objectionable odors, and provide a windbreak for livestock and farm families.
