Water

Suffice it to say that water is a huge issue around the world.  In the Midwest, Trees Forever works with landowners to decrease runoff and improve water quality in towns and in our rural areas.  In the country, vegetated buffer and filter strips along rivers, creeks, streams, waterways and field borders minimize runoff; prevent sedimentation, while filtering out fertilizers and pesticides and providing valuable wildlife habitat to be enjoyed.  Just as important to the overall amount of runoff and our water quality is the storm water leaving our communities.  Rain gardens and community greenspaces work to soak water into the ground close to where it falls rather than sending it downstream.
