Itinerary for Trees Forever Day at the Capitol, Thursday March 11

Thanks so much for your interest in attending the Trees Day at the Capitol!  Our key message is that trees and forests are important to a healthy Iowa. We will have more talking points for that day. Here’s a general schedule for the day.

8:00 a.m. Set up displays (Trees Forever has the entire West Wing of the Rotunda)

9:15 a.m. Advocacy training by Gary Grant, Trees Forever Advocacy Consultant
Brief pointers (informal meeting West Rotunda)
Talking points provided for talking with your legislators

9:30 until 3:00 p.m. Visit with individual legislators and staff booths

1:00 p.m. Advocacy training (repeat of morning session if needed)

3:00 Take down displays

Other organizations displaying or providing materials with us are the Iowa DNR, Dept. of Ag, Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association and Iowa State Extension.

Parking at the Capitol: The most convenient parking at the capitol is in the west or south parking lots. There is also free parking along the streets or in the parking garage just to the west of the Wallace Building. These are all easy walks, and if you like you can drop folks and displays off at the service door on the west side of the capitol, which has security. The only other door you can come in is the east door, which has gated parking for staff and legislators.
