Thursday, March 31, 2011
The Emerald Ash Borer has been identified in Allamakee County. Will it eventually arrive here, and if it does, how will we know and what can we do about it? If you are interested in learning the answers to these questions and others that you may have, plan to attend one of two informational meetings on Thursday, March 31. The first one will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Civic Center in Waverly. The second program will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center in Parkersburg and preregistration for the 5:30 p.m. program is requested.

The featured speakers and state experts include Mark Shour, Iowa State University Extension Entomologist and Robin Pruisner, State Entomologist with Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. They will begin this interactive program by first providing an overview of the emerald ash borer. They will then take questions from the audience in order to address specific questions and concerns.

These programs are being sponsored by Bremer, Butler and Grundy County Extension and are free and open to the public. It may be of particular interest to city and county officials and staffs, tree boards and homeowners.
