Trees Forever at the Iowa State Capitol

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Make plans to join Trees Forever members and volunteers, along with members of the Coalition for Iowa’s Woodlands & Trees, for our annual tree education day at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines on Thursday, March 15 from 9am-3pm.  Trees Forever and several of our partnering organizations will have educational displays set up with information about Iowa’s trees and woodlands, tree health issues and threats, the benefits of trees, and more.

Make plans to visit with your Senator or Representative that day, to let them know that you value our state’s trees, woodlands and natural lands and support caring for them in the future.  If possible, contact your Senator or Representative in advance to let them know you’re coming.  To get their contact information, click here.
If you’ve never visited the Capitol before, never fear!  We’ll have staff and volunteers on hand to help you navigate the process of meeting with your legislators.  And bring your camera, because they love to take photos with their constituents!

Also, if you would like to receive our special email Advocacy Updates throughout the legislative session, email Becky Smith and ask her to add you to our Tree Advocates list.
