Black Hills Energy and Trees Forever Offer Poster Contest
Natural gas provider Black Hills Energy invites schools located in its Iowa service territory to participate in a poster contest for a chance to win a $2,000 grant to use towards planting trees at their school.
To be eligible, 7th graders from your school must create tree posters, which can serve as an artistic gateway for students to learn about the environmental benefits of trees. You must select one poster from your school to submit for the contest. Black Hills Energy will review posters submitted by all schools, and then award three schools within its Iowa service territory with a $2,000 tree planting grant.
Representatives from Black Hills Energy and Trees Forever will go to the winning schools in May to help the school and its students choose planting sites, select species and develop a tree planting plan. The tree planting event will need to take place in Fall 2012 at your school property or at a public site in your community. The students who participated in the poster contest are encouraged to participate in developing the tree planting plan and the planting event.
To participate, you must register your school by Feb. 1, 2012
