Planting Hope

Hope for Today, Trees for Tomorrow

A disaster beyond our imagining destroyed and uprooted trees across the Midwest. The August 10, 2020 derecho, or land hurricane, caused damage to thousands of acres of trees. Now is the time to replant and return our communities to their green and beautiful past. Funding up to $5,000 is available to communities in Iowa and Illinois that experienced derecho impacts. Together, we are planting a better tomorrow!

Grants are available for tree plantings including tree giveaways, seedling giveaways, educational classroom projects, club or church projects, fruit and nut orchards, school memorials and cemetery plantings. If you need help with your project, our staff will be happy to help your group plan and complete a successful long-lasting project.

Planting projects are open to non-profit organizations, planting projects on publicly-owned lands, and tree giveaways where trees may end up on private property.

Funds will be reimbursed to you after you’ve completed your project. Applications are due June 1 and November 1. A special round is being held to accept applications by April 1, 2021.
